Everything, in three pillars

Whatever's going on with your phone, start here. Choose a pillar — Gestures, Updates or Fixes — and we'll take you straight to the right guide.

Gestures

Move around your phone with confidence.

Swipe navigation, one-handed reach, screenshots, multitasking and quick-launch shortcuts — the everyday moves that make a phone feel effortless.

Updates

Stay current, safely.

How to install system updates without stress, prepare for a big release, keep your apps current, and get unstuck when an update refuses to install.

Fixes

Solve the common problems.

The fixes people need most — a phone that won't turn on, a black or frozen screen, charging and battery trouble, overheating, connectivity, storage and lag.

Try these first

Four checks that solve most issues

Before anything else, these safe, vendor-neutral checks resolve a surprising number of everyday phone problems.

Force-restart

Press and hold the power button (or power + volume down) for 10–20 seconds until the phone restarts. This clears most freezes and black screens.

Check the charger

Try a different cable, adapter and wall outlet, and gently clear any lint from the charging port with a wooden or plastic pick.

Install updates

Many bugs are fixed in updates. Install pending system and app updates over stable Wi-Fi while the phone is charging.

Reset the connection

Toggle the connection off and on, try aeroplane mode for ten seconds, and restart your router for Wi-Fi problems.
